The first comics known to the world since 1896 and had more importance
in the society were:
1896: The Yellow Kid
created by Richard Fenton Outcalt
1930: The cartoons are
gaining popularity, with characters like Little Orphan Annie, Popeye, Dick
Tracy, indirect predecessor Comic Black and created by Chester Gould, Alex
Raymond Flash Gordon and the most successful of all, Tarzan, Edgar Rice
Burroughs creation .
1931: Superman first
appears in the fanzine Science Fiction: The Future of Civilization Vanguard #
3, creation of writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster.
1933: Famous Funnies is
considered the first comic. It was a re-print of several comic strips in comic
book format.
1936: The Phantom drawn by
artist Lee Falk comic strip appears in American newspapers
1937: Detective Comics No
1 is launched, then the company takes to create the initial DC Comics,
currently one of the most important publishers.
1939: The second gain
importance superhero is Batman, created by Bob Kane and presented in May 1939
in Detective Comics # 27
1940: During this decade the most popular character is Captain Marvel
(Shazam) whose first appearance was in Whiz Comics (number 1 in front and 2
indoor), published by Fawcett Publications. Subsequently DC obtained the rights
and make the magazine Shazam! whose first number corresponds to February 1973.
1941: the first war comic
with content is launched, making an appearance the most patriotic superhero of
all time, Captain America, Captain America # 1 Jack Kirby creation and Joe
Simon. Another important inclusion is the Wonder Woman of William Moulton
